The Concubine Smiles

$0.00

We wish we could’ve witnessed Yang Guifei in another era. Perhaps in 1930s Shanghai. As a Gatsbyesque socialite, or as an embodiment of the modern woman.

She was a born beauty pathed for empresshood. But destiny intervened and swept her to became the favorite concubine of the Tang Dynasty’s highest court. Her beloved lychee, grown some 500 miles south of her palace, was delivered by tireless couriers, galloping nonstop through day and night.

Here we have a Chinese green tea, lightly oxidized, generously scented with lush lychee and sprinkled with rose. This is Manderley’s sweetest indulgence.

Serving Suggestion: start with 3-4 grams or 1 teaspoon in 8 ounces of water at 175 degrees Fahrenheit then steep for 3-4 minutes.

Manderley’s Secret Suggestion: using a ratio of 4 grams for every 6-8 ounces of water, let the tea leaves steep in room temperature or cold water for 24-48 hours. This gradual steep while avoiding high heat allows the more delicate notes to linger, bringing forth more sweetness. Can be used as a base for your own cocktail recipe. This method may yield to higher caffeine levels.
